About

What is ARMA International?

Although it has been around since 1955, many people (including working records professionals) are unfamiliar with what ARMA is all about. ARMA International is a not-for-profit professional association and is the authority on governing information as a strategic asset. ARMA members include records and information managers, information governance professionals, archivists, corporate librarians, imaging specialists, legal professionals, IT managers, consultants, and educators, from a wide variety of industries in the public and private sectors, in the U.S. and abroad. ARMA International plays a vital role in developing industry standards and best practices, identifying technology trends and applications, providing marketplace news and analysis, and updating professionals on legislation and regulations.

Puget Sound Chapter

The Puget Sound Chapter of ARMA is the local chapter for our area, with a mission to provide training and education, encourage personal growth, and promote a peer network in the records and information management field. The Puget Sound Chapter was chartered in 1976. We are a volunteer-run group with members hailing from around the Puget Sound.

We regularly meet on the second Wednesday each month from September to June, alternating between Tacoma and Olympia for meetings. Our monthly events focus on professional development, practical tools, and networking. We also team up with other ARMA chapters in the Great Northwest Region, such as the Bellevue-Eastside, Greater Seattle, Idaho, and Oregon chapters, for regional events and seminars.

Chapter meetings and programs are open to non-members and guests – you do not need to be a member to attend a program.  And although you don’t need to join to attend , there are many benefits to becoming a full member of ARMA and a local chapter. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Face-to-face, real-time, local networking with peers to share pain points and find solutions, and a chance to build relationships with professionals who speak the same language.
  • Resources to help us work smarter (not harder), including 24/7 access to online courses & webinars (many free to members).
  • Books, videos, publications, job aides, and a subscription to Information Management magazine, a professional journal specifically for professionals who manage records and information.
  • Leadership and professional development opportunities like serving on a board or a committee, helping develop industry standards, attending conferences, or presenting as a speaker.

Just as ARMA provides its members with resources, community, and competitive advantages, agencies also benefit from prepared, connected, and energized staff who can help them move to the next level and meet goals for efficiency, access, and transparency.

Browse our website for more information on our chapter and upcoming events. And of course, feel free to contact us any time with questions or sign up to receive emails and invitations from the Chapter.

Our members look forward to meeting you at a future Puget Sound Chapter event!
